Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim Alhamdulillahirabbil-‘alamin was-Salatu was-Salam ‘ala Sayyidil-Mursalin wa ‘ala‘ Alihi wa Sahbihi Ajma’in. As Salamu' alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Q1: When it comes to social rules (traffic, trade, waste, neighbor, tax rules, etc.), we observe that many problems are experienced in our Muslim countries. What do you think about the disregard of such rules and the legitimation of wrongdoing?

When it comes to social rules, many problems are experienced in Muslim countries. This can be attributed to a lack of awareness of Islamic rulings and principles. However, it is important to note that this problem is not exclusive to Muslim individuals or countries. There are many other factors that contribute to this issue such as poverty and ineffective government enforcement.

Additionally, Muslim communities in non-Muslim countries may also exhibit this behavior, which could be a result of immigration and the fact that people may behave differently when abroad.

The disregard for social rules and the legitimation of wrongdoing is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. It is seen as a sin in Islam and it undermines the trust and stability of society. The absence of trust can lead to individuals prioritizing their own immediate gains over the greater good of society, which ultimately harms the community as a whole.

Q2: How should we think and act as a Muslim about such social rules? What does Islam advise us to do?

As Muslims, we must follow social rules unless they are contrary to the rulings of Allah. However, we must also be aware of the fact that we do not live in an Islamic state, and if there is no way to follow Islamic rules, we should try to make or find a way to bypass them while still behaving well in our immediate surroundings.

Islam advises us to obey social rules and laws out of love for our brother. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that "No one of you becomes a true believer until he likes for his brother what he likes for himself" [Riyad as-Salihin 183]. Additionally, Allah says in the Quran, "We never sent a Messenger but that he should be obeyed by the leave of Allah" (Surah An-Nisa, 4:64).

To act as a Muslim about social rules, individuals should think about the consequences of their actions and live more in awareness of Allah’s presence and His constant watching. It is also crucial to teach these principles to our children. Governments should also take the rules seriously and enforce them effectively. Additionally, we should strive to build a stronger sense of trust within our communities.

Overall, the issue of not following social rules is a long-term problem that can be addressed through increased awareness of Islamic principles and a strong sense of trust within society. It is important to remember that disobeying these rules can lead to chaos, and it is our duty as Muslims to ensure that we are contributing to the betterment of society.
